[Although unlikely to be published, the following commentary, including therein referenced Internet Link, was sent to our local newspaper the Parsons Sun on 06/03/2025 as a Public Mind Opinion submission.]

Not only does today’s increasingly complex World swamp us with information overload, but also with the often-daunting challenges of sorting fact from innocent/intentional falsehood. As, most unfortunately, very concerning numbers of individuals and groups often seem not only unwilling to responsibly seek and accept truth, but are also ever so inclined to let falsehoods influence their behavior.
On a related and a bit closer-to-home note, reportedly there are some 725 cities in the state of Kansas, and relatively little time and effort can be entailed, for example, in Internet/other searches that show our city of Parsons to be “high among” our state’s most crime-ridden cities. And at least one widely circulated social media posted video shows Parsons to be “second only” to Wichita as the most dangerous (i.e., crime-ridden) place to live in Kansas.
Now whether our city of Parsons truly ranks second, third, fourth, etc., of course rests with the nature and integrity of statistics involved. Nevertheless, much more worthy of note, if not of very troubling concern, is the fact that Parsons is being included among any nature of reporting of our state’s “Most Crime-Ridden Cities”!
