WHO ACTUALLY PAYS THE BILLS?

Our local newspaper, the Parsons Sun, has over time included a constructive array of very informative articles concerning local, state, and federal government matters. Including the one in the Tuesday, January 21, 2020 edition, titled “Legislative Session’s focus is on Medicaid.”

A most worthy of taxpayer attention front-page article, highlighting various cost impacts of Medicaid expansion under consideration by our Kansas Legislature. In part, the reporting notes that most of the $1.1 billion in spending increases in Kansas Governor Kelly’s proposed $19.8 billion state budget from all funding sources, relate to “expanding Medicaid.” Further pointing out that, “The state would pay 10% of the expansion costs and the federal government would pay 90%. Which to some likely represents a good and irresistible deal.

That is, until one gets responsibly in touch with some “oxymoron-based” wording that has become much too commonplace in our government budgeting/spending speak. Such as, “the state would pay,” and “the federal government would pay,” etc.

Wording that of course masks the reality that it is actually present and future individual/business taxpayers who ultimately do the “paying.” Wording also drawing little to no attention to another reality—we consumers of products and services also ultimately “pay” the taxes and tariffs levied against for-profit businesses. Just as the cost of so-called "government" subsidies, grants, etc., are likewise one way or another also ultimately "paid for" by "we the people."

Could there by a remote chance be some “connection between”: (1.) our seemingly growing tendency to avoid speaking plainly about who ultimately must pay the bills, and for example, (2.) “our” rapidly growing and out-of-control (now $23 trillion) National Debt? A most shameful legacy being passed to the backs of our nation’s now youth and the not yet born. Generations who will ultimately suffer the one day inescapable consequences of our avoidance (through innocent ignorance or intent) of communicating in the plainest and most responsible of terms—about “who actually pays the bills” of our local, state, and federal government.

A LITTLE “ANTI-GUN HISTORY” WORTH PONDERING?

(1.) In 1911, Turkey established gun control: From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

(2.) In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control: From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

(3.) In 1935, China established gun control: From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

(4.) In 1938, Germany established gun control: From 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

(5.) In 1956, Cambodia established gun control: From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

(6.) In 1964, Guatemala established gun control: From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

(7.) In 1970, Uganda established gun control: From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

(8.) Overall, enabled by gun control, about 56 million defenseless people were rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century.

(9.) During WW II, the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

(10.) Gun owners in the USA represent the largest armed forces in the World!

(11.) Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun control laws adversely affect only the law abiding citizens. Criminals and others hell-bent to do harm to others could care less about rules, laws, and gun-free zone signs!

(12.) With guns, we are “citizens”; without the freedom to own and bear arms, we are “subjects”.

(13.) But, nevertheless, as we embark on the Year 2020 in the good old USA, “establishing gun control” (which is of course code for “disarm law-abiding citizens”) continues to be an unrelenting aim of the radical-left and their socialist/communist counterparts. A life and liberty-threatening agenda sanctioned by a disturbing number of our so-called elected “servants of the people.” And enabled by widespread ignorance, apathy, complacency, denial, greed, and counterproductive fear within a likewise disturbing number of “we the people”—the so-called adults in the room.

Again, just “a little anti-gun history” likely worth pondering?

IMPEACHMENT-101: “HOW THE RADICAL-LEFT DESIGNED PROCESS ACTUALY WORKS.”

That “Impeachment” can be most confusing is clearly an understatement!
Nevertheless, The Babylon Bee has saved the day with a “simplified explainer.” And drawn from such serious work is the below adjusted summary of how the process works, and what it takes for the radical-left to snap their fingers together and make Trump disappear in a cloud of dust.

What is impeachment?

It's the official, constitutional method for screaming at the sky because Trump is president.

Why is Trump being impeached?

Trump has committed some very serious offenses, from not being a “progressive” Democrat to being an “evil” Republican. He also won the 2016 election, which rises to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors. He also restored the celebration of Christmas after eight years of winter with no Christmas, i.e. replaced with so-called political-correct “Happy Holidays” under Obama. This drove radical-left and sheep-followers up a wall so they drummed up some charges against him.

Why didn't the Democrat-majority House include any criminal offenses in the articles of impeachment?

Simply because there were just so many of them, it was hard to pick one. So, instead of laying out actually impeachable offenses, the Democrat-controlled House summarized it all with two main articles of impeachment: (1.) Trump is president. (2.) TRUMP IS PRESIDENT.

What does it take to remove the president from office?

Lots of faith, trust, and pixie dust . . . duly supported by a politically-biased “deep state” and 24/7 anti-Trump news media.

Will Trump be removed from office?

Lol.

However, if one believes in one’s self and in the tooth fairy, and tries hard enough, and Trump is removed, Hillary Clinton becomes president, right?

Actually, Mike Pence would become president, basically making the United States into a Handmaid's Tale-style dystopia.

What happens if Trump is impeached in the House but acquitted in the Senate?

The radical-left controlled House and deserving supporters don't get the big prize, but they each get a complimentary copy of “Impeachment: The Board Game.”

And, once the House votes to officially impeach President Trump, and, as required by the Constitution, officially submits House-approved articles of impeachment to the Senate for further handling, . . . what happens next?

Trump wins the 2020 election!
